Sleek and beautiful, with a frustrating stand set-up

| Reviewer: Mr. M, |
I bought this at a local brick & mortar shop. I am putting together a computer set-up for my classroom (with mac mini) and was going to go with a cheaper Acer model until I saw them in the store. This Samsung looked impressive on display: sturdy and sleek, with a picture that popped. The border is glossy - much like my Samsung television. The border on the Acer looked and felt like cheap plastic.
Like another reviewer, I had a problem with the stand. You can't be gentle with it. I covered the top of my couch with a sheet, put the monitor face up on it, then shoved in the stand as hard as I could.
Since then, there have been no problems. I love this monitor! |
Great Monitor

| This monitor is great... I don't have any complaints. The stand went on perfectly, it probably took me 1 minute because I'm not the best when it comes to putting stuff together. BUT THIS STAND WAS A PIECE OF CAKE!!! Don't listen to all those lunatics who complain about the stand and bring the rating down. It is a great monitor! |
You got it wrong about the stand...

| I picked one up today from my local shop as i am in Asia. Samsung are big in Thailand and apart from a phone i have a fridge, wasing MC, TV, microwave, DVD recorder and aircon from them. The fridge temp button has broken and the DVD has had a few problems with DVD reading from the start. I had vowed never to buy Samsung again as the build quality of products are low. I am building a PC and wanted a decent monitor after looking at a few and having one eye on Acer equlivant one i found a shop that had both side by side. The first thing that strikes you is how stylish it is with the smooth lines and high gloss finish that would impress anywhere. The 15,000:1 (5,000 more than the slightly cheaper (20 USD) Acer) picture seems as colourful as my LG Scarlet. The contrast is so define and colours are sharp and have a real depth to them. Both models also had a hard screen that is a must for me and after checking in the shop for dead pixcels i was pleased that it was 100% clear. So Samsung are back in my good books for now, if only for TVs and phones. |
Looks great, no problems

Set up is easy, performance and value are good and appearance is nice. Set monitor control in Windows XP to 1600 x 900.
Attaching the stand is tricky. I paid $140.00 plus tax at wholesale club.
Lay the monitor face down on carpet against the wall to keep the piece steady. Take care not to scratch or force anything. The "arrow" side of the "ball" faces the front of the monitor, and the "straight line" side faces you/faces up. Gently but firmly pop the the "ball" into the socket. Then lift the monitor and ball however you feel comfortable and attach and screw the bottom base to the "ball." Diagram enclosed with the monitor is not as clear as it can be. |
